Kalicko sat there confused for a little bit as she finally stopped crying. It was like he was trying to console her, but, she sensed a hidden meaning behind it. Not wanting to pry, she didn’t bother to ask the lingering questions at the back of her mind. She sat there and looked back down at the book before she looked up again at the man called Orochimaru. It was then that she noticed his eyes were the same serpent-like golden yellow as hers. Her eyes widened a slight degree. Could he be…?
“What is it?” Orochimaru question as he felt her gaze fall upon him once again. He noticed her wide eyes and wondered what was going through her head.
Kalicko regained her composure and shook it off like nothing was wrong. She’d ask him later when she felt that it was safe to ask. Shaking her head, she smiled up at the man and replied to him. “Nothing.”
Orochimaru held back a laugh and stood up from where he was sitting and offered his hand out to her. There was much to do and he was not going to waste a precious second. He felt a jolt in his heart when his daughter put her small hand in his. Without realizing it, one of his eyes built up moisture and let a tear cascade down his cheek. When she hopped off the bed with her book in the other hand, she looked up at him as if she knew something. Orochimaru shook it off and figured that he was just over thinking things. He walked out of the room with Kalicko at his side; he was going to introduce her to the new kid he’d picked up not long ago.
Kalicko looked at her surroundings once more as they walked; the halls they passed through were dimly lit and echoed with their footsteps. Without thinking, she gripped his hand a little tighter and looked up at Orochimaru. Where on earth was he taking her? Finally they found their way to another room and stopped to see a boy with silver-ish hair who wore black round glasses. Kalicko looked back at the man with wide eyes as if asking if she could go say hi. Orochimaru let go of her hand and nodded towards the boy with what he thought was a smile. She gave a big smile and ran to the silver-haired boy, who stopped what he was doing and stared at her quizzically.
“Who… are you?” the boy questioned.
He looked from Kalicko to Orochimaru a little confused. Why was this girl here, and who was she to Orochimaru anyway? The boy stared at the girl once more as she gave him a bright smile and offered him the hand that had just been holding Orochimaru’s. His eyes widened slightly when she introduced herself.
“Yurisano, Kalicko!” She replied.
The boy took her hand when he regained composure and introduced himself. “Yakushi, Kabuto..” Kabuto then took note of the book in her hand and realized what it was. He pointed to the book before he asked a question. “You understand any of that?”
Kalicko looked to what Kabuto had pointed to and back at Kabuto before she nodded slowly. He gave her a surprised look before he asked her if she practiced what was inside it. She looked down at the book before she made her reply. “I wasn’t allowed to.”
Orochimaru looked towards the book in her hand curiously and read the title. It was a book about advanced jutsus, what they did, and how to do them. How in the world did she get such a book. More so, she understood what the book was telling her…? Was it possible for a child her age to understand? He looked to his daughter and wondered what she would be capable of with training. Smirking to himself, Orochimaru watched as the two interacted with each other before he turned around and made a motion for them to follow him.
“Let’s go.”He said. “It’s time to eat.”
Kalicko looked up at Orochimaru curiously wondering if she was finally going to be able to eat the food she saw everyone else eating. Was it alright for her to eat it? They soon arrived to what seemed like a small, dark, dining hall. She watched as they sat down in chairs hesitant to sit with them. Would she be punished if she were to assume that she was allowed to sit with them? She stood by the table perplexed.
“What is wrong…Kalicko? Aren’t you going to eat?”Questioned Orochimaru. Kabuto sat there with fork in hand, food hovering just below his lips as he observed her behavior. She seemed to be nervous about something. The boy watched as she tightly gripped her clothes and fidgeted. Finally, it seemed as if Orochimaru’s words reached her ears and a look of surprise crossed her delicate looking face.
“I…can have some?” Suddenly when her mouth opened to speak, a forkful of food was shoved into her mouth. Kabuto had leaned over the table and fed her a forkful of whatever he was eating. Her eyes widened a little more as she chewed the food in her mouth. She hadn’t known something could be so flavorful in her life. She was really allowed to have some? Upon swallowing the food, Kalicko felt a sharp pain in her stomach before doubling over on the floor. Tears welled up in her eyes as she curled up into a ball.
Orochimaru’s eyes slightly widened as he rushed to pick her up. Why was his daughter writhing in pain? He soon left the room with her in tow signaling Kabuto to follow suit. Sighing as he entered a room full of medical equipment, he laid her down on a bed. “You…” He said pointing to Kabuto.
“I’ll see what I can do Lord Orochimaru…”Kabuto replied. There was only so much he could do with his limited amount of knowledge. Perplexed, Kabuto stared at the screens trying to figure out what the words meant. After a few minutes of observing, Kabuto sighed and looked back at Orochimaru shaking his head.
Orochimaru balled his hands into fists and cursed. He’d have to call him. Reluctantly, he called for a couple men to pick her up. “It looks like she’ll have to go there.” To the place he never wanted to return to. Konoha. He watched as a couple men picked her up and left the hideout. Her screams carried through the halls. Orochimaru grit his teeth in anger that there was nothing else that he could do for her. Damn, and she’d not even been there a day…
Kalicko writhed in pain all the way to konoha where Orochimaru’s men met up with a tall blond man with brown eyes. “I’ll take her from here…” He said as he took her from them. Turning around, he gave a small wave as he headed for the village’s hospital. “Excuse me.” He said to the lady at the reception desk.
“Oh my…Lex!” She exclaimed as she witnessed Kalicko writhing in his arms. Quickly she sat down and started typing something on the computer. “Her name and Date of Birth please.”
“Yurisano, Kalicko Born December 25th.”
It seemed as if the lady had a sudden realization. “Born to Yurisano Yoshiko correct…?”
The one identified as Lex nodded as he watched her type in information. “Follow me.” She said with urgency. Finally she led them to a room where Kalicko could be put down. “The doctor will be in shortly.”

Kalicko woke up in yet another unfamiliar room. She sat up and looked around the unfamiliar setting figuring it to be a hospital room. Why was she here? Suddenly, she remembered the night before. She put a hand to her stomach and bit her lip. Why did things like that happen to her? What did she do to deserve it…? Footsteps sounded in the hall and a familiar figure stood in the doorway.
“BROTHER!” She exclaimed as she made to jump out of the bed.
Lex moved to stop her from jumping. He laughed a little and told her to be careful before letting her slide off the bed. “You can leave with me now.” He said as he took her by the hand.
Kalicko looked around the room for Orochimaru only to be disappointed. She sighed and looked up at Lex with a smile. There was no use worrying about it but, she couldn’t stop herself from feeling disappointed as they walked out of the Hospital hand in hand. She looked down at the ground while she walked until she ran into someone. Kalicko let go of Lex’s hand and reached to help whoever she knocked over up. “I’m Sorry!” She exclaimed.
When she looked down, she noticed a boy around her age with brown hair and light colored eyes. The boy looked up at her and blinked before taking her hand and standing up. He flashed her a small smile causing her to blush lightly.
Lex put a hand on her head and smirked. He’d never seen her so flustered before. Looking ahead, he noticed the boy’s father and waved. “Hello Hizashi-san.” Lex said with a small smile.
Hizashi looked down at Kalicko and went down to her level. He looked back to his son then back at her. The man gave her a small smile before asking her name. “What might your name be?” He asked before putting a hand on top of her head.
Kalicko’s eyes widened slightly as he pat her head. He wasn’t afraid? Was he not going to call her a monster like everyone else? She was touched by his genuine kindness as he asked her name. Her eyes welled up with tears before responding. “Yurisano, Kalicko.”
Hizashi beckoned his son over and started to introduce him. “Hyuuga, Neji.” He bowed.
“Can…Can we be friends?!” She blurted out without thinking.
Neji looked at the girl with semi wide-eyes before smiling. Her name sounded like a breed of cat. He laughed quietly to himself before responding. “Only if I can call you Lilycat!” He smiled.
Was this what one would call a nickname? Kalicko turned her head and looked up at Lex as if to ask if it was alright to accept the nickname. Lex looked down at her with a smile before nodding. The little girl beamed with delight as she looked back at the boy. “I like it…!” Kalicko clapped excitedly before grabbing both of the boy’s hands. “My first friend!”
Neji gasped when she held his hands and blushed before hearing what she said. First friend? The boy felt a tap on his shoulder and looked toward his father. “Go play. I have things to discuss with Lex…” Neji nodded and led Kalicko away from the adults.
“You’re new here aren’t you?” Neji asked.
Kalicko nodded at the young boy’s question. She must have stuck out like a sore thumb if he could tell that she wasn’t from around there. Or maybe it was because he didn’t recognize her and he knew the faces of the village. Now that she thought about it, where in the world was she? Kalicko looked at Neji. “Neji…Where is this…?” She asked the boy.
Neji stopped dead in his tracks before looking her dead in the eye. How in the world could she not know where she was? The boy cracked another smile. “Silly Lilycat, This is Konoha.”
“Oh. I see…” Kalicko said sadly. That meant she was probably far away from her father. “Papa…” She finished quietly.
Neji tightened his grip on the girl’s hand. “Are you going to enroll in the academy?” he smiled as he tried to change the subject.
“Academy…?” She inquired.
Neji gave her a serious look before responding. Did she seriously not know what an academy was? “Like a school for ninjas.” The boy chuckled as Kalicko pounded her upright fist into the palm of her hand.
“I’ve read about those in a book. It sounds fun…”She paused in mid thought. Would Lex let her go? Or was she going back to her father soon…? Did he even want her back? Kalicko looked down sadly as she thought about it. What if he only rescued her because he felt obligated to? Kalicko couldn’t stop thinking about these things until Neji interrupted.
“Follow me!” He said and dragged her along again. Neji tried his best to keep her from looking sad. It seemed that her mind kept wandering to a certain something. He couldn’t help but wonder what it was she was thinking about that made her sad. Though, he didn’t want to ask and be the cause of that anguished look. After a while of running, they came to a riverbed and stopped.
Kalicko’s eyes glistened with tears as she gave a happy gasp and clapped her hands together. “It’s so pretty Neji!”She exclaimed.
Neji blushed and scratched the back of his head. “This is one of the spots that I like the most.”He looked towards the water that was gently flowing downstream with a small smile. “You should join the academy with me.”
“Nothing.”
